Pitchfork vs Maneskin

In case you live under a rock, Maneskin is a rock band from Italy who sprang to international prominence after winning Eurovision, where nations compete for the best song. What does the winner get? I’m still unclear about that. I’ve seen clips of Eurovision and it’s every bit as cheesy and bizarre as the above description would indicate. Check out the Netflix movie Fire Saga and you’ll get what I mean.

Anyway, Maneskin wins the thing and suddenly they’re known all over the world. Their schtick is pretty tame for Bob Nation, many of the members of which grew up regaled by tour stories of bands like Motley Crue and Pantera, but to the general public, wow!! Edgy AF rock music.

But apparently their act has worn thin on some. Their new album was just reviewed by Pitchfork, who predictably savaged it. For the uninitiated, Pitchfork is an online music publication whose writers don’t often seem to like much of anything they hear. This was no different.
